Hand in hand we stood
Separated by the needs
Of those around us
We allowed them to rule
Until we were spent
Gasping with exhaustion
Our reactions were formed
When as precious innocents
We were trampled and bruised
And scarred and marred
By the lusts and depravities
Of those called to be
Protectors
We thought our Lord
Had forgotten our plight
But all through that spring
As we walked in His light
We saw how His heart
Was broken for us
Then we arose with strength anew
To walk towards a future and a land
That would consummate our healing
And stop the bleeding
